Ānei ētahi ō ngā rotarota mō te wāhanga ō Raumati- Poems all about Summer. We were asked to write feeling poems about Summer- visualise and capture the moment by writing what we saw.
When it's Summer
When it's Summer, the Earth is calm, the sky is warm.
the birds are singing melodious tunes.
The trees are bold, the grass is firm.
I lie and rest as if I am in heaven.
the rest of life.
In Summer I see the flowers grow.
The blue sky and the sound of orchestras singing the tune to a lovely morning.
I see kids playing in various ways.
lying in the humble sun.
Nā David
When it's Summer
When it's Summer I race down to the water.
The sun in my eyes.
I feel the cool refreshing water lap over my body.
Rushing waves and gulls, the boat swishing.
the sand trickling through my wet fingers.
I feel the sand crushing under my feet.
Th waves rushing along the shore to get me.
I'm on the beach breathing in a sigh.
I smell the salty sea.
Nā Anne
When it's Summer
When it's Summer my body gets dragged to the beach.
My body starts to feel the warmth that's in the sand.
When it's Summer my body gets warm and I smell the beach, I smell the ocean that connects to the salt.
The sun hits me and warms me up.
I go into the water and get that tingly feeling
I dive under the water and emerge with blood shocked eyes.
I go from the water and lie on the sand where the warmth soothes me again.
Nā Kayzian
When it's Summer
When it's Summer I can feel the breeze of the wind twirling past my face.
The sun and I jogging as the sand sticks to my feet.
I see the birds flying high with the marine blue sky.
The one thing to do is to watch out for waves.
The waves will wash you back to sand and you will need a helping hand.
Nā Te Ngahuru.
When it's Summer
When it's Summer feel the sand sinking my feet.
I smell the sea as I slowly walk towards the water.
It slowly touches my feet.
When I feel Summer it's sunshine and I walk closely to the sea water.
It drifts closer to me, it ebbs faster and faster then comes back to me, drifting me forward, backwards, forwards.
When it's Summer it's hOT.
When it's Summer it's BOILING.
When it's Summer it's AWESOME.
Summer.
Nā Heidi
When it's Summer
When it's Summer the hot sun beats down on the shining sand.
Gulls cries pierce the sky.
Golden tans and thundering heats,
swirling water splashes the sand.
Dripping ice creams galvanise those around to get one.
Droplets of water bashing rocks.
I float lifelessly over the waves as if I am a piece of white foam.
I glide towards the shore.
Nā Rosa
When it's Summer
When it's Summer and the winds blow calmly, I lie down on the soft grass.
I run around with the gentle rays beaming, I feel the happiness and joy all around.
I see the bright trees and simmering bushes. The great blue shines with the glowing white clouds, shows the great day.
Oh Summer, it rocks!
Nā Abel
When it's Summer
When it's Summer, my baby cousin meets Earth.
She lies down and says, "Hello Nature"
Crawling around, talking around and falling.
When I see her she makes me laugh.
When she tries to talk she's funny.
KaniKani Lea Stacey.
She smiles everytime she sees me.
Nā Kawhia
When it's Summer
When it's Summer it's hot with a gentle summer breeze.
Sand tinkles throughmy feet as the wnd blows past just like when a car passes you, a swift gush of wind meets your body.
I see the waves lining up as I dive into the sea.
The fish come up, curious of me, like little kids going up to Mr Whippy, curious of their flavour for icecream.
I see coral and seaweed swaying in the deep.
Nā Ra
When it's Summer
When it's Summer I say goodbye to the joys of spring.
I say hello to the joys of summer.
In Summer I see the cold crisp water of the pool lapping over my feet.
The sun's shiny rays reflect off me and go into the water.
When Summer is over I welcome autumn, knowing Summer will come again.
Nā Analijia
When it's Summer
When it's Summer and the sun is shining bright in the blue sky.
The waves crash against the rocks.
I lie in the warm sand not worrying about anything.
I hear seagulls cry.
When the sea almost meets my feet I get up and wade into the water.
I wonder when I should stop and go back.
I am as calm as I make my way out of the water.
I lie back down on the sand, and smell the salty sea water.
Nā Lucy
When it's Summer
When it's Summer I like to smell the happiness in the air.
I like to start afresh, no being judged by anything or anyone.
The salty water makes me feel sad.
It makes me want to go home to my whānau who are far away.
I like the sway of the trees, the whisper of the wind on my skin.
I like to play and enjoy my youth.
Nā Karama
